Workshop: The Hard Not Complicated Field Guide to Being Different
I’m the founder of Sabre Tooth Panda and I work on the basis that expressing creativity is about how you relate to it, not what you know. So rather than teach techniques, the Hard Not Complicated method is all about you getting to know creativity, getting to understand how it works in your world and providing you with the affective skills to build and maintain a strong relationship with creativity. I use, among other things, coaching, facilitation, games, improv and mindfulness.
Title of talk: The Hard Not Complicated Field Guide to Being Different
Brief description about your presentation and topic:
As a creativity coach I know that difference is important. Variety isn’t just the spice of life, it’s the fuel of creativity. But as a species and a culture we enjoy the comfort of familiarity. We like to be with people like us because it’s easier and simpler. That means that if you want to have a strong relationship with creativity you need to build up your ability to be different and to accept difference in others.
The Hard Not Complicated Field Guide to Being Different is an interactive session exploring what it means to be different, to appreciate and accept difference in others and to remain independent minded while being a strong team player. The session will consist of a short talk followed by a set of interactive games, finished off with some personal thinking time designed to allow each participant to reflect on their experience and choose one way that they can apply what they have learned to their life and work that will directly contribute to achieving their goals.
Take aways for you:
- Being different is a strength only if you know how to use it
- The Hard Not Complicated method means interactive, client lead learning
- What you take away is for you, and up to you
